This Weekend

It was a wonderful weekend for the Stepps. A jam-packed, holiday filled weekend and we soaked up every minute of it.

Saturday we had the privilege of dedicating our sweet girl to the Lord in a baby dedication ceremony at our church. We were sad not to have family in, one of the bummers of living away, but we were surrounded by friends who are like family as we promised to raise Crosbi in a Christian home, to teach her God's word and to live our lives as an example of what it means to have a relationship with Jesus.

Our pastor asked us to meditate on these words from Deuteronomy 6:6-7, and I really like The Message version:

Write these commandments that I've given you today on your hearts. Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children. Talk about them wherever you are, sitting at home or walking in the street; talk about them from the time you get up in the morning to when you fall into bed at night. Tie them on your hands and foreheads as a reminder; inscribe them on the doorposts of your homes and on your city gates.

Get them inside of you and get them inside your children. Love that. Such great responsibility.

Sunday was Mother's Day and it has quickly become my favorite holiday. I think it's so special to me because it's a reminder that I have been called to be a mom. I have always enjoyed celebrating the moms in my life, but now that I am a mom myself, it has so much more meaning. I never would have thought that I would love being a mommy as much as I do. It is absolutely the best thing to ever happen to me, and now this little holiday is just another opportunity for me to praise God for blessing me with my precious girl.

To top off the weekend, Todd and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary yesterday. I can't believe seven years have gone by. I feel like we're just beginning our journey. No seven year itch in this house. I couldn't be more in love with my husband than I am today.

My heart is overflowing.

  1. Ahh, fun weekend. Crosbi is blessed to have you and Todd as her parents! P.S. I love the dress that you're wearing at Crosbi's dedication...I need more clothes like that (to wear with leggings). Looking/doing good Momma! :)

  2. This is so beautiful, Tara! So many blessings abound. I love that too - "Get them inside of you and then get them inside your children." Help yourself, so you can help them. Perfect.
